The Web Browser Safe Color Palette

There are 216 palette colors considered "safe" to use in Web page graphic images and text colors. Files using only these colors have the highest probability of appearing the same or very similar on all computers.

This page is designed to assist those using color codes in html files. Colors can be specified in html tag attributes such as COLOR, BGCOLOR, TEXT, LINK, ALINK, and VLINK. This page shows (below) the hexadecimal code used to specify each of the 216 "safe" colors. Each of the codes is displayed in the color it specifies.

Example: To use the hex value to display a few words of Web page text in a medium green color, use

<font color="#009900">a medium green color</font>
in your html.

Each 6x6 group of cells changes from no blue to full blue as you move from left to right and from no green to full green as you move from top to bottom. The six 6x6 groups change from no red to full red as you move from the top group to the bottom group.
